Sexual Assault Response Teams

Survivor-Focused Justice and Healing

Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) play a powerful role in improving the collective response to sexual violence by increasing access to justice and healing. SARTs hold the promise of improving victim experiences, increasing prosecution rates, and reducing the prevalence of sexual assault.

Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) Seek To:

Improve victims’ access to services by addressing barriers

Improve how systems’ personnel treat survivors

Ensure comprehensive service delivery

Increase offender accountability by increasing reporting and conviction rates (Greeson, Campbell 2012)

The Truth About Justice

1 in 3 women

& 1 in 71 men

have been raped
at some time in their lives.

Yet, arrest, prosecution
and convictions are

incredibly low.

According to RAINN,
out of 1,000 sexual assaults,

995 perpetrators will go free.

We believe that, through the work of the SARTs, meaningful change in the response to sexual violence is possible through trauma-informed, victim-centered, offender-focused systems.
